The input will not be a thing which about design, inspiration or artwork this week. It would be more like chicken soup for me. My current life seems to be pursued by assignments and projects. I thought that I do not have time to learn new thing. My time only can be used for doing the academic project and I felt disappointed. Suddenly, I saw this TED video and his speech really inspired me and change my thought of the way to learn things and time management. Learning usually be a hard thing for me because it has to take me a long time. However, Josh Kaufman, the presenter, says that we can only use 20 hours to learn a thing. This was, in turn, my thought. He also gives people the simple 4 steps to practice and achieves it:

Due to the other class's project, I got a chance to use the laser cut machine. I was excited. I had never operate the machine by myself, so I can check this item on my to do list in my life. The first time I access the laser cut was a project I made in my senior year in my college. However, I did not use the machine. I drew the shapes in the software and sent to the vendor and they cut it for me. Therefore, I just knew I can use this tool but I did not understand how it work,so I had been laughed by the vendor because I repeat to draw a line so many times and make them need to postpone their working time. I can remember the vendor whose attitude like so much for a design student like you. I was embarrassed. But, I have the experience of using the laser cut machine. I felt that I can be more confident to face the project which need to use the lase cut.
After my friend and I had our brunch, we took a walk to the 9/11 Memorial. I did not expect that I would been there. The two pools of memorial is astonishing.
"The Memorial’s twin reflecting pools are each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. Architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker created the Memorial design selected from a global design competition that included more than 5,200 entries from 63 nations". This was my first time to the 9/11 memorial. When the attack happened, I was young and did not know that was a severe damage. Also, I felt that the US is a place far from me, so I did not have that much sense about this heartbroken event. After many years, I'm studying in the US, and got the chance to visit the Memorial. When I stood in front the north pool. I could feel the fear at the moment. The waterfalls design like the building fell down. Although I did not participate the process, the serious atmosphere had on my face. |
